Focus on Success!

Here is a great example of Perserverance, of Relentless Drive, of Pure Focus.
I'm not talking about the Advert; although it is a fantastic piece of genius, I am talking about the man, the founder of Honda. I am talking about Soichiro Honda himself.

His story is an exceptional one, and one that I use to inspire, and motivate those who feel life is against them. His story proves that success is about persistence, its about having a vision, Focus, but more importantly it has nothing to do with circumstances!

Here are a few regularly used excuses, which I am sure you perceive are valid and true,
  • I don't have any money to get started.
  • I live in a small village, I can't ever succeed here.
  • I don't have the time.
  • The economy is bad right now.
  • I have no connections.
  • I'm poor in school.
  • I'm not popular.
  • Its impossible.

These are just a few, more popular ones, all of which could have been valid excuses for Soichiro, in fact it was much worse for him. His ambition and focus did not allow these thoughts to enter his mind, in fact the impossible was what he wanted. Soichiro was a lot worse off then 99.9% of those reading this right now, so how can any of you make excuses? The only excuse you can make is that you are too lazy. If you can say to yourself ' I am to lazy to achieve my goals ' then the problem is serious and deeper issues need resolving. The rest of you, if you can manage to eat, and sleep then you can achieve success.

I challenge you to read his story, buy a book, search the net, just make your first goal this week to find it and read it... Then try to make excuses!

I leave you with this link to the inspiring ad which truly describes the Founder himself Mr Soichiro Honda- who's legacy lives on. An Extraordinary man, with Extraordinary Success.

Thank You

Communicating for Success!

How many times have you heard the phrase " He's all talk" or "His bark is bigger then his bite"! We have all heard it or even said it a few times in our lives, but have we stopped to think about what this really means. How come some people can create reputations of respect and leadership by saying very little, while others talk like a leader but fail to get the following. How come some people seem to have magnetic personalities, or are considered natural leaders, while others are always victims or losers.

Its all about Successful Communication!

Easy you might think. Maybe, but first you have to understand the basics. Communication is so much more than what you say, in fact it has very little to do with the words that are coming out of your mouth. Here are the facts.

The 3 forms of Communication
  1. WORDS or Vocabulary
  2. VOICE QUALITIES such as Tone, Pitch, Volume
  3. PHYSIOLOGY. the way you use your body. Gestures, movement etc.

Pretty straightforward so far, but how much of each of these 3 forms do we as humans actually read to form our understanding and our behaviour.

Words or Vocabulary represent only 7% of what is actually interpreted!

Voice Qualities represent 38%.

Physiology 55%

So, in reality the things you say have very little influence on Human Behaviour, Its how you say it, and how your body communicates it. In short, you can tell someone that you are very disappointed in them, but if your smiling and laughing, and dancing around, your message will be very different. The best way to understand this is with Children. If a child does something very naughty, and you want them to stop, simply telling them to stop is not enough. Your voice, and your body language must reflect what you intend to communicate. Otherwise, a child will respond not to what you have said, but to the other forms of communication.

The next time you are speaking to someone, use your self awareness to observe what you are really communicating.

Improve the Quality of your Life!

Improve the quality of your life NOW! Do not procrastinate. I have seen people waste 10 years of their life by putting change off 'until tomorrow'. Life will pass you by, and tomorrow could be to late, especially if tomorrow is 5,10,20 years from today.

Successful people make their dreams come true. Lets take the fantastic stories of people who have lost an incredible amount of weight and are now fit and vibrant. How come they did it? They made a decision and took action. They said Today is the day, not tomorrow. People who are good at making excuses, are usually good at doing nothing. Sorry-its true. Are you good at nothing?
Get up, get moving! Imagine the life you could, should be living. Excuses will get you nowhere fast.

If you are constantly making excuses then I can help. Excuses are just a poor form of communication. You need to change how you speak to yourself in order to change how you live your life.
"The quality of your life is a result of the quality of your communication"
If you are always communicating negative thoughts, and excuses to yourself then your life will reflect it. The most important thing to remember is that things in life have no meaning, unless you give them meaning. What one person sees as exciting another might see as silly. It is your perception and your beliefs that gives things their meaning.

So, what is the trick to improving the quality of your life? Well, the key is this.
  1. It's not what happens to you that matters, its what YOU DO that makes the difference.
  2. In order for things to change. YOU MUST CHANGE!

Do not wait for things to happen, make them happen. Start TODAY, your SUCCESS starts TODAY.

Success in the New Year!

Happy New Year!
Once again the calendar reads January, and people everywhere have decided that this January they will make positive change in their life. All over the world, people have made New Years Resolutions, and are starting the year intent on improving the way they live. It is a tradition that has become ingrained in Western Culture, and one that society expects almost as much as giving gifts at Christmas. It is truly a phenomenon. My question is "How come most 'Resolutions' never see past February?"
I will tell you why, and I will also tell you how you can make a REAL CHANGE in your life that will last!

It's Amazing how the changing of a number can trigger so many to want to make 'Resolutions'. We have come to accept that January or New Years means we must try to change something in our life. Its usually the old favorites: quit smoking, lose weight, more confidence, build muscle, better job, and the list goes on, and its usually things that we definitely should change but have found excuses in the past to not do it! New Years allows us the opportunity to 'give it a go'. Its a great tradition, and that is exactly why 9 out of 10 people quit before the end of February. It has become a fad, a trend, and we make 'Resolutions' secretly knowing we will actually give up! Think about it- Even the world 'Resolution' triggers thoughts of eventual failure! The perception of the word itself, along with the years of tradition has made this event more of a occasion, then a life altering time of decision.

Most people would define 'New Years Resolution' as- A time of year where you choose something that you know you should change about yourself, and change it for a month or so. Quitting by the end of January is not acceptable, but if you make it to February then it is generally accepted that you have done OK. Make it to March and people will be impressed, but why bother, nobody cares by then.

How can you make an important life altering decision based on these beliefs and perceptions? You can't. Especially if you are a serial 'Resolutionary' and make them every year, and every year you fail. If you do the same thing you will always get the same results, therefore another 'New Year Resolution' will result in the same Result. For you, you need to NOT MAKE A RESOLUTION- that's right! Do Nothing!
Continue doing the thing you need to change! Yes, do it and for the months of January and February, everytime you do it, think about how awful it is for you, and how your life could improve if you changed. Really think of a big enough 'WHY'. Visualize the negative effects on your life, think of the worst case scenarios and visualize them when you smoke, or drink, or eat too much! ( Read related articles for more info on these techniques)

Now you are ready. Make a REAL decision to IMPROVE YOUR LIFE, do it alone and use your 'why'. Visualize the person you want to be! This is not a 'resolution', this is a LIFE CHANGING DECISION ! COMMIT TO THIS! BE A SUCCESS!

It is important to know that change is always difficult, it takes time to create new habits. Just remember to stay focused, and even if you stumble get right back up and focus even harder.
